Practice Notes - Working With Us
Engaging an architect early can be valuable - whether you are considering a site, forming your brief, or ready to begin design.
When to engage us
Early conversations allow us to better understand your aspirations and constraints, and to shape a clearer direction from the outset.
What we do
An architect’s role extends beyond design. We guide the project from initial concept through to completion, coordinating consultants, managing regulatory approvals, and overseeing the delivery of the design intent.
While the contractor manages day-to-day construction, we remain closely involved - reviewing details, responding to queries, and ensuring the project is executed with care and consistency.
Selecting a contractor
We assist clients in selecting the right contractor, whether through a formal tender process or by recommendation, depending on the project. Our involvement helps ensure that scope is clearly understood, quotations are comparable, and expectations are aligned before construction begins.
Professional role and accountability
In Singapore, architects are licensed Qualified Persons (QPs) registered with the Board of Architects and governed by the Architects Act. This ensures professional accountability and adherence to established codes, regulations, and standards.
Advising on land and early decisions
For clients considering a land purchase, we are often engaged early to assess planning constraints, site conditions, and development potential. A short consultation at this stage can provide clarity and help avoid costly missteps later on.
Project stages
Most projects follow a clear sequence - concept design, schematic design, authority submissions, design development, tender documentation, construction, and completion. While the process can be complex, we aim to guide it in a way that is structured, transparent, and manageable.
