Hyatt Regency Samarafushi
Hyatt Regency Samarafushi is a 130‑key island resort masterplanned, designed, and curated in its entirety by our studio, encompassing masterplanning, architecture, and interior design. Rooted in the natural language of the surrounding reefs, the original concept draws inspiration from the Maldivian marine ecosystem—translating the textures, colours, and fluidity of reef formations into a calm yet layered resort environment.
The reef narrative guided both spatial planning and interior palettes, moving from sandy, sun‑washed tones along the beach, to soft blues over water, and deeper, verdant greens within the treetops. This ecological gradient informed the organisation of the villas and public spaces, fostering a seamless transition between land, sea, and canopy. The resort features Beach Villas, Water Top Villas, and Tree Top Villas, with no wave villas, allowing the architecture to sit lightly within its setting while maximising privacy and immersion in nature.
At the heart of the island, the Regency Club Lounge is conceived as a forest‑embedded retreat, elevated within the treetops to offer panoramic views across the island and lagoon. Sculpted platforms and sheltered outdoor lounges encourage exploration and pause, echoing the organic movement of sea forests and coral forms.
In addition to the main accommodation, the resort includes a dedicated private island, a CEO Suite, and a Presidential Suite—each designed as a discreet, elevated residential experience within the broader masterplan. Across all scales, the architecture balances openness and shelter, using natural materials, muted reef‑inspired tones, and layered landscaping to create a relaxed yet refined expression of contemporary Maldivian luxury.
